Well i ran across a thread over at TFW. a guy was starting to kitbash Nova Prime
and it reminded me of this
i know everybody likes to see a little behind the scenes type stuff so here's a little nugget
Nova Prime's actually an older Optimus design Don had done for Hasbro, now being used as a character in the comics!
you'll note he has a different head design than he does in the comics.
On the left is the initial concept for his color scheme. Wanted to retain a little of the "warmer" colors that Prime's seem to always have [Sentinel with his orange and reds, optimus with red and blue, rodimus with red and orange] but felt it was maybe a little too much
It was a unique design so i wanted to try something a little different than the norm and the more white color scheme came into play. I think its pretty much the color scheme i used in the comics. I really like how it turned out. A lot of people say it kinda gives him an angelic feel so thats pretty cool. i really really love the wings Don gave him, and it looks so awesome in the comic.
Damnnnn, this is my most fav design of Prime, wish Optimus really appeared like this, then he would really kick some ass, Sentinel was very much badass himself in the IDW comics, he was hella big and with his Apex armor he was a walking war machine, too bad he got killed by Megs, but I find these designs way better than in TF Animated, what I really hate about that show is, is how they butchered the chars, especially both Primes, in it Sentinel is a big jerk, and Optimus, I don't wanna talk about it, it's just too horrible, I've seen the show, I also hate those human villains and find them really unnecassary, especially Meltdown, if these versions of both Primes were there they're gonna kick major ass
I liked the color scheme and agree he's a li'l 'gundam' looking but as far Megs beating the tar outta this guy, I think ya bot better hope not to run into Nova, who probably Nemesis, because I think this is the one Prime he won't be running throught!
Yeah, I would say the white colour scheme looks better, makes him look like some badass archangel of sorts. Somehow, his wings look like gigantic hands.
Definitely prefer the white version. It makes him distinct which is a good thing considering the awesome design and the direction Furman seems to be heading with him in the comics.
Now, Hasbro just needs to make a toy of this guy...
Wow, that looks awesome. What series of comics does he appear in by the way, I want to buy them and then look for him. He'll probably be a pretty awesome character. ^_^
Those wings are an amazing design, they're my favourite part of him.
hey man thats pretty damn cool. . .
*runs away with nerdgasm*
